THE DOLPHIN
This newsletter is dedicated to those that have come to
realize that swimming is a way of life.
Plain Talk
The Silver
Dolphins have been in the water for nearly one month and in that short period
of time, many new drills have been learned, good work habits developed, and the
importance of regular practice has been obvious.
We want to stress
to the swimmers that you are responsible for your effort in practice, listening
and following direction. It is important
that every swimmer learn to use the clock as a valuable aid for pulling,
kicking, and swimming. Swimmers should
know their times for all distances in kicking, pulling, and strokes. We also want to encourage all swimmers to
strive to become lane leaders. This is
the one position in the lane that is admired and respected by the coaches. It is a fact that these swimmers gain more
conditioning than those behind them.
We want to welcome
all the new swimmers and their families to LESD. We hope your stay is long, enjoyable, and
highly satisfying.
Reminder - Please Mark
Your Calendars
The Mark Braun Meet will be held November 18th-20th,

fundraising opportunities.
New Swimmers
Any new swimmers who have joined
LESD from another team must get transferred.

group mailboxes. Fill it out and return

White,
Red and Blue - Changes to the Swimming Practice Schedule Starting in November
We must apologize for the practice schedule changes,
particularly to the White, Red and Blue teams.
As everyone knows, the Hawken Lower School pool has been closed since
August and it might be closed through December and possibly part of January,
this being the worst possible scenario.
We believe we have a solution to the problem and it will go into effect
the first part of November. Basically the Blue team will practice at the
Upper School, and the White and Red teams will practice at the Upper School or
at a new pool we are currently working on leasing. The schedule will be the following:
Blue 6:15 PM 7:45 PM Tues, Weds, Thurs Upper
School
5:15
PM - 6:45 PM Friday Upper
School Saturday TBA
Red 5:15 PM 6:15 PM Monday, Wednesday Upper School or New
Location

PM 6:30 Friday Upper
School or New Location
TBA Saturday
White 5:15 PM 6:15 PM Tuesday, Thursday Upper School or New
Location
5:15
PM 6:30 Friday Upper
School or New Location
TBA Saturday
The coaches would like to thank all the
parents and swimmers for their cooperation and understanding and we will all
get through this difficult situation together.
If you have any questions, please talk to your coach.

Mark Braun Meet
If your child is swimming in the Braun meet, you
will be assigned a job at the meet. We will need everyone's help.
Worker assignments will be made after we receive all LESD entries to the
meet. If any parent has a job preference, please let me (Teri
Glassman) know by e-mail at czta@adelphia.net. I will TRY to
accommodate as many requests as possible.
Mark Braun Meet Hospitality
The Braun Meet is fast approaching
and hospitality needs your help. Over the next few weeks, hospitality
coordinators will be contacting you for food and pop donations. Remember this
meet is the biggest fundraiser for our team and that is why we need the support
of all of our families. We are still missing quite a few hospitality
items from Sectionals. We are especially in need of serving trays, bowls,
and utensils, as well as a large coffee pot, microwave, and roaster.
Please let us know if you have any items which you can loan us. If
you have any connections with food or beverage suppliers, please contact Laura
Vexler (216-378-2653) or Josey Cerer (440- 946-4722).
Thank You in advance for your cooperation.
Mark Braun Parking
The Lake Erie Silvers Dolphins
were able to arrange for discount parking passes to be made available for
parking at all sessions of the Mark Braun meet in order to defray costs for
officials, meet workers and volunteers.
The regular cost for parking is $6.00/day. The passes are available at a cost of $
4.00/day. These passes must be
pre-purchased through one of the following ways:
1. Send a self addressed stamped
envelope to Pat Tumbush 10705 Robert Lane, Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023. Make checks out to LESD Boosters for $4.00
per day.
2. Passes can be purchased through
your group contact: Josey Cerer White,
Heather Schlang Red, Kat Tarak Blue, Barbie McCann or Greg Oznowich
Bronze, Janet Ranallo Silver-Gold, Cindy Reagan CVAC, Kathy Campbell
Mayfield, and Laurie Daney CSU.
3. If your child practices at CSU and
you have purchased a parking pass from CSU, you will be able to use this
parking pass for the Mark Braun Meet.

The first $75
installment for family booster fees is due on October 15. Please
mail it to: JoAnn Arnold, Treasurer, 6221
South Applecross Road, Highland Heights, OH 44143. Thank
you. (Total booster fee for 2005-06 is $200 per family).
Meet
Event Sponsorships and Ad Sales

are as follows:
Mile Meet (October 30) and Braun Meet (November 1)
The cost is $20 per event, with 100% of the cost applied to
your booster fee. Events are on a first come/first serve basis, so
get your forms and checks in as soon as possible to JoAnn Arnold. Any
questions please email TOOMUCH10S@AOL.COM.
Swim-A-Thon
Our thanks to Beth Forsythe and Josey
Cerer for the coordination of the 3rd LESD Swim-A-Thon, to all the
participating families, coaches, swimmers, volunteers and to our DJs Ryan Neff
and Brittany Legal who made this annual event a success!
Flu Shots
We are
recommending the swimmers receive a flu shot to help protect them from getting
sick thus missing school and practices.
Parking
LESD (applies to
parents from all practice groups) parents are not allowed to park in the oval
in front of the Holtrey Pool. This oval
is only for drop off. Please wait in the
parking lot across the street until your child is ready to be picked up. Many buses and parents of Hawken athletes use
this driveway for Hawken athletic events and need access at all times. Cars left with flashers running and left for
just a few minutes are not acceptable.
Parents should park across the street and walk into the pool if they
need to speak with a coach or to get their child ready for practice.
